Laura Perkins, FNP-C

She received her bachelor of science in nursing from Northwestern State University in 1992. Her nursing career began as a ICU nurse in the Surgical and cardiac intensive care units.

She earned her master of science as a family nurse practitioner in 1997 from Northwestern State University.

The majority of her career has been spent in Internal Medicine, with a focus on preventative care and management of acute and chronic healthcare concerns of young adults and geriatrics.

Her experience also includes gastroenterology, rural health care and research.

Laura has worked side by side with Dr. Robert Hernandez since 2003. Her passion is offering a caring approach to healthcare while partnering with patients, families and the healthcare team to deliver the highest quality care with compassion, honor and dignity.

She is certified by the ANCC as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

She loves teaching. Laura has served has a clinical preceptor for nurse practitioner students for over 18 years.

Interests include spending time with her family, traveling, and music.
