Dr. Ahmed I Salem, MD

Dr. Ahmed I. Salem is a board-certified internist (American Board of Internal Medicine) who joined Willis-Knighton Health System in 2021. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from The School of Medicine, Suez Canal University in Ismailia, Egypt 2009. He completed his internship and medical residency in Sarasota Memorial Hospital, Florida State University in Sarasota, Florida.

Dr. Salem is interested in global medical education and currently serves as a board member of the Egyptian Association for American Medical Training and Research (EAMTAR). A nonprofit, nongovernmental organization that includes thousands of medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, and researchers worldwide, serving as a portal to enhance the relationship between the international medical community members.

"My philosophy in treating my patients is based on the modern definition of health, defining health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity. My patients' health is not only about how they perform but also about how they think and how they connect others in our community." Dr. Salem says. He is willing to invest time and effort in achieving this goal with his patients through a long-term relationship based on trust and passion for serving the people of Shreveport and the Ark-La-Tex area. "Compassion, competency, and evidence-based medicine will always be the pillars of my practice. Seeing the positive difference we make for our patients is what motivates us to wake up every single morning." Dr. Salem says.

Dr. Salem is a member of many prestigious medical associations, including The American Medical Association, The American College of Physicians, The American Society of Clinical Oncology, and Harvard Alumni Association. He is a recipient of numerous physician recognition awards, including The Dubai Harvard Foundation for Medical Research Scholarship.

Dr. Salem relocated to Shreveport with his wife Nermin and his daughter Sophia. He enjoys rowing and biking in his spare time. Also, he likes cooking middle eastern and international recipes with his wife.
